Assessments:

Intake Assessment

The Intake Assessment is a complete musculoskeletal/myofascial examination by a physician and/or a therapist. The assessment includes a physical exam with a focus on range of motion, trigger points, biomechanical problems, and evidence of nerve or blood vessel entrapment, plus any other pertinent tests according to the presenting symptoms. The results of this examination determines if further assessments may be required.

Physiotherapy Assessment:

This is a comprehensive physiotherapy assessment which focuses on postural and biomechanical aspects that may contribute to the presenting symptoms.

Surface Electromyography:

Surface electromyography (sEMG) is a method of measuring the electrical activity of muscles. The RSI Clinic uses sEMG for both assessment and treatment of WMSD (RSI) injuries. Particular emphasis is put on the evaluation of neuromuscular fatigue and dynamic muscle patterns. The RSI Clinic is currently involved in ongoing research in the use of sEMG in clinical applications. More detailed information about Surface EMG

Life History Review:

Studies have shown that stress may contribute to RSI/WMSD injuries. Therefore at the RSI Clinic, an in-depth psychological interview allows us to determine attitudes and coping skills for each employee. Emphasis is placed on workplace stress, management-employee conflict, and any other unresolved personal conflicts.
